Shameful, extremely poor, sad, apathetic, hybrid. All these adjectives are not good enough to describe this team, which has neither the nobility nor the attitude to revert one of the blackest pages in the history of Independiente.
Insulting the president is another example to show how the fun thinks. One of the major responsible for this miserable present received a massive disagreement in the shape of a song. There’s no football, no stadium, or even sacred fire. The glory is still being thrown directly into the waste-pipe, and Comparada doesn’t face the situation.
The players boast about trying to change the current situation. They are mocking the fans, because one thing is to give everything you have and despite of this things do not go well. But another very different thing is not to show temperament at all and play as if you were winning the match with a 10-0 score. You can not miss when you are passing the ball 5 meters away from you, and simply give the ball to the opponents. You can not go back to cover defensive positions as if you would be jogging, or hide yourself behind an opponent. They earn tons of money; they don’t care about Independiente´s T-shirt glory, because at the end of the month their bank account will be still growing.
It’s pathetic to see some players wearing this T-Shirt. To see the other players ‘walking’ throughout the field generates hate and repudiation. To see any team literally beating us in a humiliating way causes spasms. This situation can’t continue, because it became unbearable, annoying and irreparable. It’s not a coincidence that Caruso Lombardi, Diego Simeone and Alejandro Sabella, were able to change the course of their respective team’s performance, while these players keep ‘devouring’ coach after coach. Gallego is neither free of blame: most of the substitutions are mistakenly performed, and his words seemed to burn with his sharp tongue. However, his credit will remain open until June, when he will have the chance to form the team he will be allowed to build up, because surely none of the first line players named during the last days will come to Independiente.
Is neither easy to understand why some fans were singing and celebrating at the end of the match: this is not our identity, but to show our disagreement with this whole present. Not to sing and to repudiate team’s attitude doesn’t make us bitter fans, but keeps differentiating us from the rest. Independiente is ‘to play beautiful’, is ‘to have a different taste for soccer’, ‘exquisite passing’ and ‘quality game’. Even though we don’t currently have any of these qualities, this doesn’t mean we have to change Red’s fan nature. The change also must start within the supporters.
We already suffered San Martín de Tucumán, Gimnasia, Lanús and Godoy Cruz. Now to be defeated by the worst River Plate in the history is just what we need. Who’s next? Because considering all the mediocrity surrounding us, from all sides, one more strip won’t make any difference on the tiger.
